Heinsberg, which celebrated the 750th anniversary of the recognition of its town rights in 2005, has been Germany’s westernmost county capital since the 1972 local government reform. Today it’s both a modern service town and a traditional industrial location.

Something new is evolving in Oberbruch, which can look back on a tradition of more than 100 years as an industrial location and is currently undergoing a transformation into a modern, future-oriented industrial estate.

Heinsberg is also a major shopping centre. Its competent retail trade with a huge variety of goods attracts customers from far and wide, including neighbouring Holland. The high quality of life here is enhanced by all kinds of cultural activities.

Added to this is the good road infrastructure within the region, since the A46 motorway was extended as far as Heinsberg in 1996 so that the town is also directly connected to the motorway network along the Rhine.
