Gangelt, has developed into a modern municipality in recent years, while retaining its links to history. This is reflected in the well-preserved town gates and fortifications which are just two of the many tourist attractions. Proving popular even beyond the region is the historic Selfkantbahn (narrow-gauge steam railway) and one of Europe’s largest open-air big game enclosures.

However, this small town is also attractive for businesses. There are plenty of traditional craft industries and retail traders, but also three medium-sized companies with three-digit staff numbers.

It’s likely that Gangelt will in future be able to profit even more from its close proximity to the Netherlands. That’s evident from two new developments - a planned connection via the A46 to the Dutch motorway network as well as the business sites offered by the modern industrial estate situated on the B56.
